Insignificance

sooo....first i'm just gonna say that i'm disregarding proper grammar for the most part right now...cuz...i'm just too lazy to make my i's capital and to write out idk...or to make full sentences....that's why i almost always make ellipses (or however you spell it) instead. this is my full thought process in action...and i do not need grammar blocking the floow of my words.

ok...sooooo,
i have an account on youtube mainly since i like to leave comments if i have any on the videos that i watch. anyways, so i'm subscribed to a couple people and today when i went onto youtube one of my subscriptions had a new video...ewww....an icky bug just landed on my shoulder and i killed it :p ... ANNNYWAYS, so i watched the video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVVvic8okho

and its like....FINALLY....somebody else gets it, you know?
we, as human beings, think so much of ourselves and so highly of ourselves but the thing is that if you look at yourself in terms of the universe or even our planet/solar system, you realize that in comparison to that...we are soo insignificant. i've been trying to explain this to people but nobody believes me. that's how i think in terms of global warming or global climate change or w/e you wanna call it. how can we, as these tiny fleshy beings put on this planet for whatever reason i'm not even sure of, be the cause of something that is so big...so....global? I'm not exactly what you would call a believer in this whole global climate change conspiracy which as i see it is a scam and just a way that al gore tries to make us think that our planet is doomed so we give him our money so he can use his trusty scientists to help and 'reverse' it. and so the trendy concept of 'going green' is now so popular when i've been doing that 'green' stuff my entire life just because....well...cause it's the right thing to do. either way, its not so much that people believe in global climate change that bothers me, rather than the fact that they believe it is manmade. we, as earthlings, are just too insignificant to cause something so big. perhaps we contribute to it but really not that much that it would make such a difference. maybe you think i'm wrong but that's how i see it. anyways, i just thought of that because of our dinner conversation at the table this evening.

so my sister came home from college, and ever since she's started to live in a dorm she's kinda gone all...hippy-ish. or maybe she's always been that way and i just never really noticed. i choose to believe the first one. anyways, so at the dinner table she brings up how she just learned what the big bang theory was and when she thought about it, she got this 'epiphany', as she called it, that really...in this world...we are all one. i quote..."we are one with the stars, one with the ocean, one with everyone else" yea...i sorta thought she was crazy at first but then i started to think that maybe she did have a good point. and then it evolved into this conversation about how these things that we call 'scandals' or 'drama' that are in our lives, are only in our lives and causing us grief because we allow them to. we give them the power to have that effect over our lives.

in our lives, there will always be those people who behave rudely towards us or do mean things to us and we despise the fact that we've ever come within speaking distance of them, but once you think about it...maybe that person is there for a reason. theyre there to teach you a lesson. and maybe that's why we lose some people in our lives.even though theyre not here anymore....theyre still teaching us something.... things always happen for a reason, i've decided. ah...i should stop myself rite now...cuz i now i could go on but then i'd feel ridiculous cuz it's kind of like i'm not sure if anyone else thinks about this crap like i do, so if they read they'll be like...o yea margaret? yea the weird one who talks to herself on her blog that tries to convince me that the people i hate are in my life for a reason even though she's just kind of talking to herself? yea....she's kinda awkward

which ill admit... i kind of am.

either ways, after a while...i dont see the point in this cuz it just twists my mind and i begin convincing myself that i'm crazy for discussing these things with myself as i write this blog.
o my gosh... this isn't healthy. and i blame the unprofessional non-suit wearing mr. grdinic. yes, i told him i would write about his unprofessional attire in my blog. ahhh...its really bothering me that i'm not sure whether i spelled proffessional correctly or not.

ok i'm just gonna stop right here
alright...i'm out.

and omgosh! i definetely watched the double slit experiment for the first time today and it's soo freaking cool and i can't wait to learn more about it. i'm not sure that i'm as frustrated as i should be with this whole quantum crap but it makes sense to me and i love it.
okay really tho now.
im out.
if you read that, i hope you enjoyed my loserishness in writing form
as for now i'm margaret...and i'm not as cool as you...

peace!

Quantum Mechanics?

Alrighty, Quantum Mechanics. I've absolutely no idea. Maybe I should.
But considering it's 11:30 at night and I wasn't in class last Thursday, I don't exactly have a burning desire to look it up right now. I probably will tomorrow. Or maybe once I make up all my homework, tests, and quizzes. This stuff really does spark my interest but challenges me so much sometimes. I've considered several times this weekend my interest in becoming a neurologist when I'm older, but considering what a struggle science can be for me sometimes...yeaa...
Reading what I've read about Quantum Mechanics I have a feeling it will be very frustrating to me, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see in several hours from now. Hoo...rah.

Did you know?

Well, actually I kinda did. But only since I had seen the video in a spanish class a couple weeks before. It scared me the first time I saw it...well, maybe not scared me...it shocked or maybe even disturbed me. But after that spanish class, it was forgotten. But watching this video again still kind of leaves me in a state of ...disbelief, if you will.

To be honest, I'm kind of speechless. I wouldn't say that I am ignorant to the current events in the world, but I certainly find it difficult to comprehend the numbers that flash before me as I watch this video.

More honors kids in India than kids IN America?
The number of texts sent/recieved everyday exceeds the total population of the planet?
There were 5x more words during the time of Shakespeare?
A supercomputer will be built that exceeds the computational capacities of the human brain by 2013?

These are the things the stood out to me the most. Maybe its not even how huge technology has become, because, really now, the idea that we are becoming more technologically advanced is just ....it shouldn't exactly be surprising to many.

As I think about it, perhaps I'm beginning to feel a sense of ...disgust, if you will.
I realize that I do have to take in account the different sizes and populations of countries compared to ours, but it just makes me think that maybe...the people in our country have grown somewhat lazier when it comes to actually having to use their brains. Or maybe I think more highly of our country than others.

But seeing that there are more texts sent/recieved than population of the PLANET? i send maybe a couple per day. But not if I want to have a conversation. Why don't you just call the person??? do you not want to actually talk to them? do you have to hide behind a screen? I don't know, maybe that's not it. Maybe we're just always 'staying connected' but I've heard of people that have sent over 7,000 texts per week. Let's be realistic now. Does that not sound even a little ridiculous? 7,000?! And the fact that we can see commercials for texting and understand the 'shorthand' ways of speaking is...sad. Idk my bff Jill? These short ways to say things are taking over the world and maybe that's why there's less words in our time. Or maybe I'm just looking into it a little too much. Or maybe, I'm just a little bit more old-fashioned then everyone else, but...I think I'm okay with that.

But the fact that by 2013, we will build a supercomputer that exceeds the computational capabilities of the human brain?
How can we create something that exceeds what we are capable of doing? It seems impossible to me. And the fact that we've become so dependent upon these new technologies is beyone me. Today, for example, I went downstairs and my brother was working on his math homework. As I was pulling out some milk and cookies my mom, who was helping my brother, asked me which was larger... 5^6 or 6^5? I told them to use a calculator to figure it out, but apparently my brother forgot BOTH of his calculators at school. (one of which I lended him...and am not pleased with his irresponsibility). Either way, it seemed that just because he didn't have his calculator it suddenly made this problem...impossible. WEllllll....
first of all, you could make an educated guess.
secondly, whatever happened to good old fashioned math??
I realize that calculators help make it faster and just more quickly do the math that we are still capable of, but if you don't have it, it seems as if all common knowledge is lost...Whatever.
Just thinking about all of this makes me think of a book I just finished reading, "The Adoration of Jenna Fox". It had to do with a girl who was in a car accident and the way she was saved by a new technology was crazy to me. Basically creating a new body and saving just a little of her brain. It made me think.
What will we get ourselves into?
Does our growing technology have the potential to eventually turn against us?
What potential of dangers in future discoveries is there?
What exactly are we getting ourselves into.
Maybe it's the unknown and the future that frightens me.

Sometimes, I think I was just born in the wrong time.
Well, I actually think I could continue but for my own sake I will stop.
I don't even know how to put my thoughts into words at this point.
